The mechanic of receiving damage in Teamfight Tactics is based on a very simple, additive mathematical formula. When you lose a round, you lose Health Points (HP) according to the following equation:
Damage Received = Base Damage (Stage dependent) + Surviving Enemy Units (1 damage each)
If you are in Stage 4 (Base damage = 7) and you lose the fight, and 3 enemy units remain on the board (Unit damage = 3), you will receive a total of 10 damage ($7 + 3 = 10$).
